Pakistan top order batsman Fakhar Zaman said he prefers opening the batting for the Lahore Qalandars in the ongoing 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Zaman is accustomed to batting at the top of the order, but has been shuffled around recently, especially when playing international cricket.

Having gained experience batting at different positions, the 33-year-old from Mardan admitted he prefers coming out to the crease right away instead of waiting in the pavilion.

“I am prepared to bat at any position, but my preference is to open in the PSL,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Going into PSL 9, Zaman featured in Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand and amassed 126 runs, which included a top score of 50, at an average of 25.20 and a strike-rate of 165.78.

As for the PSL, the left-handed big-hitter has made 70 runs in five matches at an average of 14 and a strike-rate of 93.33.
