Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan has made it clear that he wants to play all the matches in a series or be left out completely.
Azam is seen as one of the top prospects in the country, but he has failed to live up to expectations at the international level despite being a solid performer in domestic cricket and various T20 leagues.
Recently, the 25-year-old son of former Pakistan captain Moin Khan was recalled for the five-match T20I series against New Zealand and made 22 runs in three games at an average of 7.33 and a strike-rate of 115.78.
A lot more is expected of the middle order power-hitter, but he pointed out that if he never gets the chance to play a full series, it becomes incredibly difficult for him to showcase his talent.
“In the last 4 years, I have made a comeback three times and I have never played a full series, so it hurts me a little that either you give me the full series or leave me out altogether, or don’t hang me in the middle, so I regret this thing,” Azam was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam is now playing for Islamabad United in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has amassed 14 runs in three matches at an average of seven and a strike-rate of 100.
