Zaheer Abbas: “Babar Azam will have to play consistently”

Legendary Pakistan cricketer Zaheer Abbas has stressed the importance of batsman Babar Azam, saying it is vital that he keep performing consistently.
Azam has been dogged by his poor form for the past few months, which has been a major problem for the men in green as they rely on the 29-year-old to score runs.
In the recent three-match Test series against Australia, the Lahore-born batsman was limited to 126 runs at an average of 21.
He then proceeded to make 213 runs, which included three fifties, at an average of 42.60 and a strike-rate of 142 in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
While Azam did show signs of consistency against the Black Caps, Abbas reiterated that he must keep delivering for Pakistan as he is the team’s frontline batsman.
“Babar Azam will have to play consistently,” he told Geo News.
Azam is now captaining the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which got underway on February 17.
