Pakistan batting coach Adam Hollioake called Azam Khan an “exciting player” and expects big things from the big-hitting wicketkeeper-batsman in the future.
Azam was recently recalled to the Pakistan team for the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, but failed to have much of an impact as he made scores of 10, 2 and 10.
Even though the 25-year-old fell well short of expectations, Hollioake knows how good he can be and backed him to achieve great success going forward.
“He’s an exciting player, a big-hitter,” Hollioake was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam’s next assignment will be the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he will represent Islamabad United.
PSL 9 will be held from February 17 to March 18 in four cities – Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
Islamabad United Squad for PSL 9: Shadab Khan (captain), Naseem Shah, Jordan Cox, Imad Wasim, Azam Khan, Tymal Mills, Faheem Ashraf, Alex Hales, Colin Munro, Rumman Raees, Matthew Forde, Salman Ali Agha, Qasim Akram, Shahab Khan, Hunain Shah, Ubaid Shah, Shamyl Hussain, Obed McCoy, Haider Ali, Muhammad Waseem
