Pakistan middle order batsman Fawad Alam has urged people to stop being so concerned about star player Babar Azam’s poor form.

Azam’s rough patch has gone on for a few months, which has hurt the men in green as he is one of their main run-scorers.

During the recent three-match Test series against Australia, the 29-year-old was restricted to 126 runs at an average of 21.

He showed signs of recovering in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand as he made 213 runs, which included three fifties, at an average of 42.60 and a strike-rate of 142.

Knowing how consistent Azam is, Fawad is optimistic that he will get back to his best in no time at all.

“Players go through ups and downs. A player can score zero one day and a century the next. Yes, Babar is consistent, but if he has a slight downturn, we get worried,” he told Cricket Pakistan.

Azam will now captain the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which begins on February 17.
