New Zealand opening batsman Finn Allen revealed Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf had agreed not to bowl any bumpers to him during the five-match T20I series, but he ended up breaking that deal.
As part of the deal, Allen agreed that he wouldn’t smash any deliveries back to Rauf.
However, once the Pakistan quick went back on his word, Allen noted that “all deals were off the table.”
The 24-year-old from Auckland had an outstanding campaign against the men in green as he plundered 275 runs, which included a career-best 137, at an average of 55 and a strike-rate of 195.03.
“Yes, we had a bit of a deal before the series that he (Rauf) wouldn’t bowl me any bumpers and I wouldn’t hit any back at him. He bowled me a bumper, so all deals were off the table,” Allen was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Rauf ended up taking seven wickets in the four matches he played at an average of 23 and an economy rate of 10.61.
He will now represent the Lahore Qalandars in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which gets underway on February 17.
