Yasir Arafat: “It was great to see Ahmed Shahzad back to form after a lean patch for the past few years”

Pakistan High-Performance Coach Yasir Arafat said it is great to see top order batsman Ahmed Shehzad back in form after struggling for the past few years.
Shehzad has been a dominant force in domestic cricket, having amassed 482 runs in six matches for Lahore Region Whites in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which included two centuries and a fifty, at an average of 96.40.
He then played in the Pakistan Cup and scored 53 runs in four matches at an average of 13.25.
His form returned during the National T20 Cup as he made 344 runs in nine games, which included four half-centuries, at an average of 43 and a strike-rate of 133.33.
“It was great to see Ahmed Shahzad back to form after a lean patch for the past few years,” Arafat was quoted as saying by A Sports.
Shehzad wasn’t picked for Pakistan’s recent three-match Test series against Australia, which they lost 4-0, or their five-match T20I series against New Zealand, where they were beaten 4-1.
The 32-year-old also wasn’t selected by any team for the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which will be played from February 17 to March 18 in four cities – Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
