Misbah-ul-Haq: “A minor adjustment is necessary in Ayub’s technique concerning the fuller deliveries from both pacers and spinners, as his front leg tends to move across slightly, potentially causing issues. His dismissal hints at a similar concern”

Former Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has spotted a small issue with opening batsman Saim Ayub’s batting technique, saying it requires “a minor adjustment” to fix.

Elaborating on the problem, Misbah noted that the 21-year-old’s “front leg tends to move across slightly” when facing fuller deliveries from fast bowlers and spinners.

By rectifying this weakness, it will allow Ayub to become an even better batsman.

“A minor adjustment is necessary in Ayub’s technique concerning the fuller deliveries from both pacers and spinners, as his front leg tends to move across slightly, potentially causing issues. His dismissal hints at a similar concern,” Misbah said in a video on his Facebook account as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

Ayub made his Test debut in the recent three-match series against Australia and scored 0 and 33 in the third Test in Sydney.

He then proceeded to muster 39 runs in four games at an average of 9.75 and a strike-rate of 130 in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand.

Next up for Ayub will be the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he will represent the Peshawar Zalmi.

PSL 9 will take place from February 17 to March 18 in four cities – Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi.

Peshawar Zalmi Squad for PSL 9: Babar Azam (captain), Rovman Powell, Saim Ayub, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Mohammad Haris, Aamer Jamal, Khurram Shahzad (partially available), Arshad Iqbal, Haseebullah, Gus Atkinson (partially available), Asif Ali, Naveen-ul-Haq (reserved), Salman Irshad, Arif Yaqoob, Umair Afridi, Dan Mousley, Mohammad Zeeshan, Waqar Salamkheil, Mehran Mumtaz, Luke Wood, Sufyan Muqeem, Shamar Joseph
