Shadab Khan: “I really enjoy Test cricket and my heart definitely desires it”

Shadab Khan, the Pakistan spinner, has announced his intention to play Test cricket again in the future, saying his “heart definitely desires it.”
The 25-year-old last played Test cricket in August 2020 and hasn’t played any first-class cricket since then either.
With nearly four years having passed, the Mianwali native acknowledged that he will have to start playing domestic cricket in order to convince the selectors to call him up to the Test side.
From there, he faces stiff competition from the likes of Noman Ali and Abrar Ahmed.
Nonetheless, Shadab is ready for the challenge as he has his mind set on representing his country in all three formats.
“I really enjoy Test cricket and my heart definitely desires it,” he told Cricket Pakistan.
Shadab wasn’t picked for Pakistan’s recent three-match Test series against Australia, which the men in green lost 3-0.
He also wasn’t part of the squad for the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which Pakistan lost 4-1, as he was recovering from an ankle injury.
Shadab will now captain Islamabad United in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which will be held from February 17 to March 18 in four cities – Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
