Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq said fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani will be considered for selection in limited overs cricket going forward.
This comes after he starred in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he played a crucial role in helping the Multan Sultans win the tournament.
Dahani finished as the highest wicket-taker with 20 wickets in 11 games at an average of 17 and an economy rate of 8.42.
With this in mind, Misbah said Dahani is on the selectors’ radar, even though he wasn’t picked for the ongoing white-ball series against England.
“He was part of red-ball squad in Zimbabwe. The team was announced 20 days before so he was not part of white-ball cricket but he is included in [the] squad for [the] West Indies Tests,” Misbah was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
“He isn’t with us for [the] England tour but [we] will consider him, especially after being the top wicket-taker in white-ball cricket, as it seems that he has bright future ahead of him.”
Despite not being in the team for the tour of England, Dahani kept hold of his spot in the Test team for the upcoming tour of the West Indies.
He was part of the Test side for the recent series against Zimbabwe, but didn’t feature in any games.
Despite this, he will be hoping to make his international debut in the Caribbean.
Pakistan’s tour of the West Indies will consist of five T20 Internationals and two Tests, with the T20 series getting underway on July 27 and ending on August 3.
As for the Test series, it will start on August 12 and conclude on August 24.
