South Africa batsman Faf du Plessis said Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan is a “good hitter”.

His praise comes after Azam received his maiden call-up to the Pakistan T20 side for the upcoming tours of England and the West Indies.

The talented youngster has been turning heads with his performances in domestic cricket.

In the Pakistan Cup, the 22-year-old accumulated 186 runs in seven games for Sindh, which included a top score of 69, at an average of 46.50 and a strike-rate of 124.83.

As for the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), he has scored 174 runs in 10 matches for the Quetta Gladiators, which includes a top score of 47, at an average of 17.40 and a strike-rate of 133.84.

“Azam Khan is a good hitter. I haven’t seen much of him since I have just played a couple of games. I think he got that one fifty there towards the end of the competition,” Du Plessis, who was also playing for the Gladiators before being ruled out for the remainder of the PSL with a concussion, told Cricket Pakistan.

Du Plessis amassed 76 runs in five matches at an average of 19 and a strike-rate of 122.58.
