Former Pakistan pacer Jalaluddin said fast bowler Tabish Khan should be given a chance during the tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe otherwise it is useless to pick him.
Tabish has taken 598 wickets in 137 first-class matches at an average of 24.29.
In the most recent edition of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, the 36-year-old claimed 30 wickets in nine matches for Sindh at an average of 30.96.
He was part of Pakistan’s team for the home series against South Africa earlier this year, but didn’t feature in either of the two Tests.
Given how experienced he is and how many first-class wickets he has taken, Jalaluddin believes that it is time for Tabish to be given an opportunity to prove his worth during the upcoming tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe.
“If they are carrying him, they should give him a chance. Otherwise, there is no use to pick him. Now he’s 36, so give him a chance or drop him. Let him play, if he can do well for one or two years, then it’s good,” Jalaluddin told Batting with Bimal.
Pakistan will play three ODIs and four T20 Internationals against South Africa before heading to Zimbabwe for two Tests and three T20 Internationals.
Pakistan will depart for South Africa on March 26 and the tour will commence on April 2 and conclude on April 16. The ODI series will be played first.
The men in green will then head to Zimbabwe on April 17, but the dates for the matches have yet to be confirmed.
However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) noted that the national team will travel back to Lahore from Bulawayo on May 12.
