Pakistan Test captain Azhar Ali has admitted that pace bowler Mohammad Abbas is “someone who can be a very important member” of the bowling attack for the upcoming series against England.

Abbas has played in England before and even dominated when Pakistan toured the country in 2018.

In the two-Test series, Abbas picked up 10 wickets at an average of 14.20.

Azhar’s praise for Abbas comes after Pakistan’s two-day inter-squad scenario-based practice match in Worcester from July 5 to 6.

In addition to Abbas, Azhar also lauded teenage pace sensation Naseem Shah.

“Mohammad Abbas is our experienced bowler and his presence is of advantage for us as he also keeps guiding the youngsters. He is someone who can be a very important member of the attack for us,” Azhar was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

“Naseem Shah bowled very well in the scenario-based match. He will attain more control as he continues to bowl.”

Pakistan are scheduled to play three Tests and three T20 Internationals against England, with the first Test starting on August 5 and the T20 series beginning on August 28.
