David Warner continued to be in red-hot form as he hammered an unbeaten 57 to lead Australia to a seven-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the third Twenty20 International in Melbourne.
Australia’s victory saw them whitewash Sri Lanka 3-0.
Choosing to bowl first, Australia got their breakthrough on the sixth ball of the match as Niroshan Dickwella was caught by Ben McDermott off the bowling of Mitchell Starc for a golden duck.
Kusal Mendis only made 13 runs before he was dismissed by Kane Richardson, while Avishka Fernando was sent packing by Pat Cummins for 20.
Oshada Fernando was the next to go as he was caught behind off the bowling of Richardson for six runs.
Kusal Perera was the only Sri Lankan player to put up a fight as he struck a 45-ball 57, which included four boundaries and a six, before he was caught by Ashton Turner at extra cover off the bowling of Cummins.
With Shehan Jayasuriya and Bhanuka Rajapaksa scoring 12 and 17 not out respectively, Sri Lanka ended up making 142/6 off their 20 overs.
Starc, Richardson and Cummins picked up two wickets apiece.
Chasing 143 to win, Australia got off to an excellent start as Warner and captain Aaron Finch amassed a 69-run partnership before Finch was removed by Lahiru Kumara for 37.
Steve Smith fell shortly after for 13, while McDermott was trapped lbw off the bowling of Sri Lanka skipper Lasith Malinga for five runs.
Warner and Turner finished things off with an unbeaten 46-run partnership, during which Warner brought up his fifty.
Warner finished on 57, which came off 50 balls and included four boundaries and a six, while Turner remained undefeated on 22, which came off 15 deliveries and included two sixes.
Kumara, Malinga and Nuwan Pradeep claimed one wicket each.
Warner was named Man of the Match.
