Pakistan head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq believes that the young pace duo of Naseem Shah and Muhammad Musa are the “future” of Pakistan cricket.
Misbah’s comments come after Naseem, 16, and Musa, 19, were picked for the upcoming tour of Australia.
Musa was included in both the Test and Twenty20 squads, while Naseem was only picked in the Test side.
“Naseem Shah and Muhammad Musa Khan’s pace and attitude towards fast-bowling is something worth seeing,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “We believe in these players and insha’Allah they are our future. If you go to Australia and compete then it’s fire against fire. You need those type of bowlers and talent, like we are on the receiving end with pace, we should challenge them in the same way.”
Musa has featured in seven first-class matches and taken 17 wickets at an average of 37.52. He has also played six List A and eight Twenty20 games, where he has taken seven wickets at an average of 45.14 and 12 wickets at an average of 22.75 respectively.
As for Naseem, he has claimed 17 wickets in five first-class games at an average of 18.70. He went wicketless in the one List A match he played and has picked up two wickets in three Twenty20s at an average of 51.50.
