Rohit Sharma scored a career-best 212 to keep India in complete control against South Africa on the second day of the third Test in Ranchi.
Starting off the day on 224/3, Rohit and Ajinkya Rahane converted their 185-run partnership into a 267-run stand before Rahane was caught behind off the bowling of debutant George Linde for 115, which came off 192 balls and included 17 boundaries and a six.
Rohit and Ravindra Jadeja added 64 runs to the score before Rohit was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada for 212, which came off 255 deliveries and included 28 boundaries and six sixes.
Wriddhiman Saha made 24 runs before he was clean bowled by Linde, who also removed Jadeja for a 119-ball 51, which included four boundaries.
Ravichandran Ashwin fell shortly after, while Umesh Yadav struck five sixes during his 31 runs off 10 balls.
India added 15 runs after Yadav was dismissed before they declared on 497/9.
Linde was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Rabada snapped up three, and Dane Piedt and Anrich Nortje chipped in with one wicket apiece.
Trailing by 497 runs, South Africa were dealt a huge blow on the second ball of their innings as Dean Elgar was caught behind off the bowling of Mohammed Shami for a duck.
Quinton de Kock, who opened the batting with Elgar, only scored four runs before he was caught behind off the bowling of Yadav.
South Africa captain Faf du Plessis and Zubayr Hamza mustered an unbeaten one-run partnership before bad light brought play to an end for the day.
Du Plessis finished on one, while Hamza has yet to get off the mark.
Shami and Yadav claimed one wicket each.
South Africa ended day two on 9/2 and will continue batting on Monday at 09:30 local time or 04:00 GMT.
