Former captain Salman Butt, batsman Fawad Alam and wicketkeeper-batsman Adnan Akmal could all be in with a chance of being picked for Pakistan’s upcoming tour of Australia.
Salman and Fawad have performed well on the domestic circuit for the past few years, while Akmal has been excelling for Southern Punjab in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
Salman, who last month scored 237 for Central Punjab against Balochistan in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, has not played for Pakistan since he was banned for his involvement in a spot-fixing scandal back in 2010, while Fawad, who made an unbeaten 100 for Sindh in their match against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, last played international cricket in 2015. As for Akmal, his last international match came in 2014.

According to the Business Recorder, Pakistan’s coaching staff are understood to be impressed with the trio, along with Abid Ali, Sami Aslam and Mohammad Rizwan.
Pakistan head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq will meet with the coaches soon before finalizing the Test and Twenty20 squads for the tour of Australia.
The series will consist of three Twenty20 Internationals from November 3 to 8, and two Tests from November 21 to December 3.
