Abdul Qadir: “Also Arthur and Sarfraz were unhappy with Inzamam’s presence in England, which is why it would have been better to [tell] the chief selector [to] shut up and sideline him”

Legendary Pakistan leg-spinner Abdul Qadir believes that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should have not allowed chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq to meddle with the national team’s affairs during the World Cup.
Qadir noted that Inzamam’s presence in England and interference during the World Cup frustrated captain Sarfraz Ahmed and head coach Mickey Arthur.
As a result, the 63-year-old feels that the PCB should have take action by sidelining Inzamam and telling him to “shut up”.
“I fail to understand why the PCB can’t assert its authority,” Qadir told cricketpakistan.com.pk. “Inzamam’s responsibility was solely to select the squad before the tournament while he should have not played any role in the tour selection committee.
“Also Arthur and Sarfraz were unhappy with Inzamam’s presence in England, which is why it would have been better to [tell] the chief selector [to] shut up and sideline him.”
There has been a lot of speculation about Inzamam’s future as of late, with most of the rumours suggesting that he will be sacked as chief selector.
It’s about time that the PCB cleans up its act and start to match up to the other boards around the World. The People of Pakistan, fans of Pakistan cricket should decide who sits in the corridors of power at PCB headquarters. It is important to select a squad of young players and let them develop into a world beating side. There is plenty of talent in Pakistan but that talent needs to be polished.
The domestic cricket set up is not fit for purpose and doesn’t filter and feed quality cricketers into the national side. Since the inception of PSL, some good quality players have shone and made it to the national side. Hassnain and Afridi are typical examples.
I wish the Govt takes notice and stops the PCB play with the emotions of millions of people in and out of the country.
I agree Arif. Pakistan’s first class and one day competitions are not producing any major talents. As a result the PCB now look to the PSL to choose players for the national team. If they keep going down that route, Pakistan cricket will be in for a tough time.
