Legendary Pakistan leg-spinner Abdul Qadir firmly believes that head coach Mickey Arthur “has ruined Pakistan cricket”.

Qadir’s comments come after Pakistan failed to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals and at a time where there has been a lot of speculation about Arthur’s future as head coach.

Qadir also lashed out at Arthur for dropping or overlooking players like Umar Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad and former captain Salman Butt.

All three have been performing well on the domestic circuit, but none of them were considered for the World Cup, where Pakistan failed to reach the semi-finals since New Zealand edged them out with a superior net run rate.

“Mickey Arthur has ruined Pakistan cricket,” Qadir told cricketpakistan.com.pk. “He dropped the likes of Ahmed Shehzad, Sami Aslam, Salman Butt, Umar Akmal, Sohail Khan and many others. These were the players [that] had the experience and performances under their belt to carry Pakistan forward.

“Even if there were disciplinary issues with these players, it’s the PCB’s responsibility to form a code of conduct and warn these players in order to avoid such incidents from happening in the future.”
