Former Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf believes that the national team will only advance to the World Cup semi-finals if the Bangladesh team gets struck by lightning or gets bowled out for 10 runs.
Pakistan face a must-win situation going into their match against Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday.
They have to demolish Bangladesh by a mammoth margin of over 300 runs in order to advance to the last four ahead of New Zealand.
But, if Bangladesh bat first, then Pakistan won’t have any chance of reaching the semi-finals.
Yousuf admitted that it is impossible for Pakistan to get the job done unless the Bangladesh team gets hit by lightning or if the men in green score a massive total and then proceed to bowl out Bangladesh for a measly 10 runs.
“Pakistan is out of the World Cup there is no doubt about it,” Yousuf was quoted as saying by CricTracker. “Only if lightning strikes Bangladesh [or] they get all out for 10 runs, then only we have a chance.
“This scenario is very, very difficult. Even if you are playing against a [bad] team, to win by 316 runs, according to me, [is] a tough job.”
