Pakistan batting coach Grant Flower has revealed that he gave Babar Azam a few tips on how to become one of the world’s elite batsmen.
Azam has been Pakistan’s best batsman in the ongoing World Cup as he has accumulated 378 runs in seven matches, which includes a century and two fifties, at an absolutely brilliant average of 63.
His century came in a crucial six-wicket win over New Zealand at Edgbaston on June 26 as his unbeaten knock of 101 helped the men in green keep their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup semi-finals alive.
Revealing the tips he gave Azam, Flower was quoted by Cricket World as saying: “Keep it simple, practice hard, keep your feet on the ground and make good decisions like he does on and off the field. [If he does all that], I’m sure he’ll do well.”
Pakistan now have to beat Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday and hope that New Zealand beat England on Wednesday as that will secure them a spot in the World Cup semi-finals.
