Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has noted that the national team “must take their destiny in their own hands” when they face Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday.

Pakistan have to beat Bangladesh and and hope that New Zealand beat England on Wednesday as that will secure them a spot in the semi-finals.

Since the result of the game between New Zealand and England will be out of their hands, Ramiz urged Pakistan to focus on beating Bangladesh and ensuring they have a good net run rate at the end of the match.

“Pakistan should take their destiny in their own hands as their progress cannot depend on the wins and losses of other sides,” Ramiz was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder. “So, Pakistan [will] need to come out victorious in their must-win match against Bangladesh, and then their future at the tournament [will] depend on the net run rate.”
