Former Pakistan left-arm spinner Iqbal Qasim believes that pace bowler Mohammad Hasnain needs to be included in the playing XI.
Hasnain has yet to make his World Cup debut, but has featured in five ODIs to date, where he has taken five wickets at an average of 60.60.
With Hasnain having been on the bench for all eight of Pakistan’s World Cup matches thus far, Qasim questioned why he is in the squad if he isn’t going to play at all.
“Why is Hasnain warming the bench and why he isn’t being included in the playing XI? It makes no sense of having a youngster and he is not [being] given an opportunity to polish his skills,” Qasim told The Nation. “Afghanistan was the perfect stage where Hasnain should have been in the playing XI.”
Pakistan now have to beat Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday and hope that New Zealand beat England on Wednesday as that will secure them a spot in the last four.
