Legendary Pakistan pace bowler Waqar Younis has admitted that the national team have to perform a lot better if they want to beat Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday.

Waqar’s comments come after Pakistan managed to escape with a three-wicket win in their nail-biting clash with Afghanistan at Headingley on Saturday.

With Pakistan managing to win with two balls to spare, it kept their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup semi-finals alive.

However, given how Bangladesh have been playing as of late, Waqar admitted that Pakistan have to be at their very best and can’t afford to play like they did against Afghanistan.

“Most importantly of all they will have to beat Bangladesh,” Waqar was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “To beat Bangladesh, they will have to play better than they managed against Afghanistan.

“That was a pretty poor showing and, to be brutally honest, you have to say that Afghanistan lost that game with some silly mistakes.”
