Legendary West Indies batsman Sir Viv Richards has lavished praise on Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed for turning his side’s fortunes around in the World Cup.
Pakistan are still in with a chance to reach the World Cup semi-finals after they beat South Africa, New Zealand and Afghanistan.
They will now face Bangladesh in their final group stage match at Lord’s on Friday and have to come out on top if they want to keep their hopes of reaching the last four alive.
Richards noted that Sarfraz has done an exceptional job as captain to take his side from the verge of being eliminated from the tournament to within touching distance of the semi-finals.
“My adopted team, Pakistan, are very much in it,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “As everyone knows, they are a very talented team and it was pretty exciting to see them perform in the game against New Zealand recently.
“It was a spirited performance and captain Sarfraz Ahmed must be given praise for his aggressive captaincy.”
