Pakistan batsman Haris Sohail has admitted that it will be a grave mistake for the national team to underestimate Afghanistan in their World Cup clash on Saturday.

Haris noted that Afghanistan have some “quality spinners” and have nothing to lose as they have already been eliminated from the tournament.

With Afghanistan having lost all seven of their games thus far, they will no doubt he looking to win their last two games.

Should Pakistan lose to Afghanistan, their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup semi-finals will go up in smoke.

“Afghanistan’s progress at [the] international level is very good, they have quality spinners so there is no way we [can] take them lightly,” Haris was quoted as saying by AFP.

“They did beat us in a warm-up game but that was a practice game and this match will be a different one, but we need to come at full power to beat them.”

If Pakistan beat Afghanistan, they will then have to take down Bangladesh at Lord’s on July 5 in order to have any chance of reaching the last four.

However, even if they defeat Afghanistan and Bangladesh, it might not be enough as they will have to rely on the results of other matches.
