Legendary Pakistan batsman Javed Miandad has revealed that the national team must formulate a proper gameplan if they want to beat New Zealand at the World Cup on Wednesday.
Miandad noted that with New Zealand being undefeated in the tournament, Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed should form the gameplan with the other senior players in the side.
Pakistan, who have won two out of their six matches, will need to win this game in order to keep their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals alive.
However, that will be easier said than done, especially as New Zealand have won five out of their six games, while their clash against India was washed out.
“After forming a gameplan, we must utilize it on the field by involving ourselves in excessive training, as the more you practice [you do], the better you get,” Miandad was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder. “We must also keep an eye on the points table as at the end, net run rate and averages of wickets [will] matter a lot for the semi-final qualification if teams [have the same number of points].”
Pakistan’s clash against New Zealand will take place at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
