Pakistan spinner Shadab Khan admitted that he and his teammates are confident they can reach the semi-finals at the World Cup.

The men in green face an uphill battle to reach the last four as they will need to win their three remaining group stage matches.

Even that won’t be enough as they will have to rely on the results of other games.

Despite the precarious situation the team is in, Shadab insisted that everyone is optimistic that Pakistan can qualify for the semi-finals.

“We know the situation,” Shadab was quoted as saying by Sport24. “We need to win our remaining three matches to harbour any hopes of reaching the semi-finals, but the confidence is there so we will be taking it match by match.”

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against New Zealand at Edgbaston on Wednesday.
