Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has made it abundantly clear that there are no groups forming within the national team.

Sarfraz’s comments come after it was reported that he accused spinner Imad Wasim of forming a small group with three other players in order to replace him as captain.

It is believed that the three other players are left-arm seamer Wahab Riaz, opener Imam-ul-Haq and batsman Babar Azam.

It was also reported that veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik supported the group.

However, like all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez, Sarfraz has dismissed all the speculation about the team being divided.

“There [are] no such things or groupings. Like Hafeez bhai said, these things [only] come up after we lose. When we win, it doesn’t happen. The guys are united and committed and want to perform for the team,” Sarfraz was quoted as saying by PakPassion.

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against South Africa at Lord’s on Sunday.
