Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has lashed out at Prime Minister Imran Khan for publicly providing advice to captain Sarfraz Ahmed during the ongoing World Cup.

Imran has taken to Twitter a number of times to provide advice, tips or call on people to support the Pakistan team.

However, Sethi believes all this has done is put even more pressure on Sarfraz, whose side is currently struggling in the tournament as they have won just one out of the five games they have played thus far.

“No matter how much cricket one has played, a Prime Minister shouldn’t be saying things to a captain publicly. If he had to say anything to him, he should have conveyed [it] to him privately,” Sethi told Geo.tv. “It brought Sarfraz unnecessary pressure and criticism for not listening to the advice.”

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against South Africa at Lord’s on Sunday.
