Ramiz Raja: “He (Hasan) has been the most expensive bowler for Pakistan in all World Cups now. Similarly, Wahab Riaz was also unable to bowl even a single yorker [against India]”

Ex-Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has admitted that the pace duo of Hasan Ali and Wahab Riaz have failed to live up to expectations in the World Cup.

Hasan has taken two wickets in four games at an average of 128. It should be noted that Pakistan have played five matches, but since their game against Sri Lanka was washed out, it is not counted in the statistics.

To make matters worse, Hasan conceded 39 runs off four overs against the West Indies, 66 runs off 10 overs against England, 67 runs off 10 overs against Australia and 84 runs off nine overs against India.

As for Wahab, he has claimed five wickets in four matches at an average of 47.40.

He conceded 40 runs off 3.4 overs against the West Indies, 82 runs off 10 overs against England, 44 runs off eight overs against Australia and 71 runs off 10 overs against India.

“He (Hasan) has been the most expensive bowler for Pakistan in all World Cups now. Similarly, Wahab Riaz was also unable to bowl even a single yorker [against India],” Ramiz was quoted as saying by Dawn.

“Barring Mohammad Amir, you don’t have a bowler who [could] create problems for the Indian [batsmen]. He [Amir] was the only bowler who has been fighting.”

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against South Africa at Lord’s on Sunday.
