England opener Jason Roy hammered a sensational 153 to lead his side to a convincing 106-run win over Bangladesh in Cardiff.

However, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan deserves a lot of credit as he struck a magnificent 121.

Being put in to bat first, England got off to a superb start as Roy and Jonny Bairstow amassed a 128-run partnership, during which both players brought up their half-centuries, before Bairstow was dismissed by Bangladesh captain Mahrafe Mortaza for 51, which came off 50 balls and included six boundaries.

Roy and Joe Root kept the runs flowing with a 77-run stand, during which Roy cruised past his hundred, before Root was clean bowled by Mohammad Saifuddin for 21.

Roy ended up scoring a 121-ball 153, which included 14 boundaries and five sixes, before he was caught by Mortaza at extra cover off the bowling of Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Jos Buttler and captain Eoin Morgan added 95 runs to the score, during which Buttler registered his fifty, before he was removed by Saifuddin for a 44-ball 64, which included two boundaries and four sixes.

Morgan scored a quickfire 35 before he was sent packing by Mehidy.

Stokes was dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman for eight runs, but with Liam Plunkett smashing 27 runs off nine balls and Chris Woakes walloping 18 runs off eight deliveries, England finished on 386/6.

Mehidy and Saifuddin picked up two wickets apiece, while Mortaza and Mustafizur chipped in with one wicket each.

Chasing 387 to win, Bangladesh lost opener Soumya Sarkar early on as he was clean bowled by Jofra Archer for two runs.

Shakib and Tamim Iqbal made up for the loss of Sarkar with a 55-run partnership before Tamim was caught by Morgan at extra cover off the bowling of Mark Wood for 19.

Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim kept the scoreboard ticking with a 106-run stand, during which Shakib raced past his fifty, before Rahim was caught by Roy at point off the bowling of Plunkett for 44.

Mohammad Mithun failed to trouble the scorers as he was sent packing by Adil Rashid for a duck.

Shakib and Mahmudullah added 49 runs to the score before Shakib was cleaned up by Stokes for a 119-ball 121, which included 12 boundaries and a six.
