Pakistan have gotten off to the same start in the ongoing World Cup as they did when they won the tournament back in 1992.

Pakistan lost to the West Indies by 10 wickets in their World Cup opener in 1992, while in this year’s competition, they were beaten by seven wickets.

In their second game in the 1992 World Cup, Pakistan beat Zimbabwe by 53 runs, while in the ongoing tournament, they took down England by 14 runs in Nottingham on Monday.

Pakistan’s third game in the 1992 World Cup was abandoned due to rain after they were skittled out for 74, while their game against Sri Lanka in this edition of the competition was washed out without a ball being bowled.

Considering that Pakistan went on to win the 1992 World Cup after these first three results, is it written in the stars that the men in green will taste World Cup glory for the second time ever this year?

Pakistan’s next World Cup game will be against Australia in Taunton on Wednesday.
