Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik is likely to miss the team’s World Cup opener against the West Indies on Friday as he has not been included in the 12-man squad for the match, according to sources.

In the recent five-match ODI series against England, Malik featured in two matches and scored 45 runs at an average of 22.50.

He also took one wicket at an average of 33.

In addition to Malik, Geo.tv reported that pace bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Hasnain are not part of the 12-man squad either.

The team has been chosen by the team management, which includes head coach Mickey Arthur and captain Sarfraz Ahmed.
