Sarfraz Ahmed: “You have to take [wickets] if you [want to] stop any team”

Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed pointed out that taking wickets will be the key to his side winning their matches at the World Cup.

Sarfraz’s comments come after Pakistan struggled to take wickets during the recent five-match ODI series against England.

Should Pakistan fail to take wickets at the World Cup, Sarfraz admitted that his side will find it tough to succeed.

“If you contain any teams, you have to take wickets,” he was quoted as saying by The Cricketer. “If you’re not taking wickets here, you’ve got to stop [the] runs.

“Whether you play England, you play West Indies or Australia, you have to take [wickets] if you [want to] stop any team.”

Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on Friday.
