Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi believes that left-arm seamer Wahab Riaz deserves to have all his dreams come true.
Afridi’s comments come after Wahab was surprisingly included in Pakistan’s finalised World Cup squad, even though he was not even part of the list of 23 probables for the tournament.
Wahab has been in good form lately as he was the third-highest wicket-taker in this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) with 17 wickets in 13 games for the Peshawar Zalmi at an average of 19.88.
In Pakistan’s shock loss to Afghanistan in their World Cup warm-up match, Wahab finished with figures of 3-46 off 7.4 overs.
“I hope all of Wahab Riaz’s dreams come true. I hope he will do well for the team,” Afridi was quoted as saying by Geo.tv.
Pakistan’s second World Cup warm-up game will be against Bangladesh in Cardiff on May 26.
They will then begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
