Mushtaq Ahmed: “Babar Azam needs to be more consistent and convert his starts into big innings against quality opposition”

Former Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed believes that batsman Babar Azam needs to take more responsibility by being “more consistent” and converting “his starts into big innings against quality opposition”.

Azam was the second-highest scorer in the recently concluded ODI series against England.

He accumulated 277 runs in five matches, which included a century and two fifties, at an average of 55.40.

“It is good to see the Pakistan batsmen scoring runs on English pitches. However, they need to improve their strike rate,” Mushtaq was quoted as saying by cricketpakistan.com.pk. “Babar Azam needs to be more consistent and convert his starts into big innings against quality opposition.”

Pakistan will play two World Cup warm-up games against Afghanistan and Bangladesh in Bristol and Cardiff on May 24 and 26 respectively.

They will then begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
