Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has admitted that the national team could very well lose to Bangladesh at the World Cup.

Ramiz’s comments come after Pakistan lost their ongoing five-match ODI series against England as they trail 3-0 going into the final match.

With Bangladesh also having beaten Pakistan at the Asia Cup last September, Ramiz conceded that Bangladesh could come out on top in their World Cup clash with the men in green on July 5.

“Bangladesh is ahead of Pakistan in head to head contest,” Ramiz was quoted as saying by cricfrenzy.com. “They faced each other once in the 1999 world cup. That match is very popular because Bangladesh won the match and the Pakistan team was very strong back then.

“They have beaten Pakistan in the recent Asia cup and whitewashed them 3-0 in their home ground. They play really well against Pakistan. For this, Pakistan has to be careful. Bangladesh may not be that strong on paper but on their day, they can beat anyone. They have the ability to do anything.

“So, if we consider recent performances and previous meetings in the World Cup, Bangladesh is ahead of Pakistan in that aspect.”

Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies on May 31 in Nottingham.
