Former Pakistan leg-spinner Abdul Qadir believes that batsmen Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad should have been picked for the World Cup.

Kamran was the second-highest scorer at this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he accumulated 357 runs in 13 games for the Peshawar Zalmi, which included three half-centuries, at an average of 27.46.

As for Shehzad, he represented the Quetta Gladiators and amassed 311 runs in eight games, which included four fifties, at an average of 51.83.

Umar also played for the Gladiators and scored 277 runs in 12 matches, which included two half-centuries, at an average of 34.62.

“Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal are being ignored despite performing well in the recently concluded season of the Pakistan Super League,” Qadir was quoted as saying by cricketpakistan.com.pk. “Umar Akmal and Kamran Akmal can change the course of a match single-handedly and can play the role of power hitters.”

Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies on May 31 in Nottingham.
