Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman has vowed to perform to the best of his ability and live up to expectations during the World Cup, which begins in England and Wales on May 30.
Zaman’s promise comes after he smashed a magnificent 138 against England in the second ODI in Southampton on Saturday.
With Zaman opening the batting, a lot will be expected of him during the World Cup, which Pakistan haven’t won since 1992.
“I always try to perform in accordance with people’s expectations and this is something I would like to continue doing during the World Cup as well,” he was quoted as saying by cricketpakistan.com.pk. “Hopefully I can play a key role in the team’s victories.
“I worked on my game while being on the sidelines during the Australia series, but my approach is still going to be the same. I worked with Aftab Khan and Kabir Khan in Peshawar in order to figure out the technical issues with my batting.”
Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
