Pakistan batsman Azhar Ali believes that head coach Mickey Arthur has “done really well with the team”.
Azhar noted that under Arthur’s leadership, Pakistan became the top Test side and are currently at the summit of the Twenty20 rankings.
He added that Arthur also helped guide Pakistan to Champions Trophy glory for the first time in 2017.
“Mickey has done really well with the team,” Azhar told the International Cricket Council’s website. “He has earned a lot of respect, so hopefully he can help us lift the World Cup, which is very important for all of us.
“He was with us when we won the Champions Trophy, when we won the No. 1 spot at Test level and became the No. 1 side in T20. He’s done a lot and he’ll be looking forward to cross another hurdle.”
Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
