Legendary Pakistan pace bowler Waqar Younis has advised seamer Mohammad Hasnain “not to lose his pace” during the World Cup.

Hasnain, who is capable of bowling at speeds around 150km/h, was picked ahead of left-arm seamers Mohammad Amir and Usman Khan Shinwari when Pakistan announced their World Cup team last month.

Hasnain made his international debut in the recent five-match ODI series against Australia, where he took two wickets in three games at an average of 78.

He was called up to the national team for his performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he claimed 12 wickets in seven games for the Quetta Gladiators at an average of 17.58.

“He is very talented, has pace and bounce and the determination,” Younis told AFP as quoted by The News International. “I have told him not to lose his pace, which is his strong point. I wish him the best of luck.”

Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
