Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur has revealed that veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez could feature in the upcoming ODI series against England as he is making great strides towards becoming fully fit.
Hafeez had a second operation on his fractured thumb earlier this year, but he still managed to prove his fitness and be included in Pakistan’s World Cup squad.
However, Pakistan are allowed to make changes to their side without permission from the International Cricket Council (ICC) until May 23.
Prior to the World Cup, Pakistan will play the five-match ODI series against England, which will run from May 8 to 19.
They will also play a one-off Twenty20 International on May 5.
“He [Hafeez] has bowled and he has fielded. Hafeez is ahead of where we want him and that’s great news. He has been doing a lot of work so don’t rule out Hafeez in the one-day series,” Arthur was quoted as saying by Geo News.
Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
