Former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal was pleased with the decision that Imad Wasim was included in the World Cup squad.

Imad, a left-arm spinner and handy lower order batsman, had been undergoing rehabilitation after his chronic knee injury flared up after the recent ODI series against Australia.

Despite reports indicating that he initially failed to pass the mandatory yo-yo test, Imad was included in the World Cup side.

Even if this is the case, Ajmal admitted that he is glad Imad made the cut.

“Yes, Imad didn’t pass the fitness test. But we need an experienced spinner. And he bowls with the new and old ball. He can hit a few shots as well,” Ajmal told Sport360.

Pakistan are allowed to make changes to their World Cup team without permission from the International Cricket Council (ICC) until May 23.

They will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
