Pakistan spinner Shadab Khan has admitted that he would love to pick up the prized wicket of India captain Virat Kohli during the World Cup.

Pakistan and India will go head to head on June 16 in Manchester.

It should also be noted that Pakistan have never beaten India in their six meetings at the World Cup.

“I want to take the prized wicket of Indian captain Virat Kohli,” he was quoted as saying by Dawn.

But, with the World Cup beginning in just over a month, Shadab is in a race against time to be fit for the tournament as he was diagnosed with Hepatitis C on Sunday, according to reports.

The 20-year-old will need at least four weeks to recover and this could lead to him missing the start of the competition.

Shadab has already been ruled out of the limited overs series against England, which will consist of a one-off Twenty20 International and five ODIs, and run from May 5 to 19.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have since confirmed that spinner Yasir Shah will replace him for the series against England.

Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
