Pace bowler Hasan Ali has revealed that he is determined to “do something special for Pakistan” at the World Cup, which begins in England and Wales next month.

Hasan was included in Pakistan’s squad that was announced on Thursday, and he admitted that he is extremely excited to play in his first World Cup.

The 24-year-old will be heading into the tournament on a high as he was the highest wicket-taker in this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) with 25 wickets in 13 games for the Peshawar Zalmi at an average of 13.64.

“It is my first World Cup and I am very excited,” he said in an interview as quoted by Cricingif on Twitter. “I have the picture of the World Cup trophy inside my room and on the door of my house. I want to do something special for Pakistan.”

Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
