Legendary Pakistan left-arm seamer Wasim Akram, ex-pace bowler Waqar Younis, former captain Ramiz Raja and ex-batsman Bazid Khan have all revealed their respective Pakistan squads for the World Cup.

Pakistan recently revealed a list of 23 probables for the World Cup, and all those selected will undergo fitness tests at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on April 15 and 16.

However, there were a few major omissions from the list of probables, namely batsman Umar Akmal, opener Ahmed Shehzad and left-arm seamer Wahab Riaz.

Wasim Akram’s Squad

Interestingly, Akram picked Akmal in his squad, along with young pace bowler Mohammad Hasnain, who made his international debut during the recently concluded ODI series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates.

He also left out left-arm seamer Usman Khan Shinwari in favour of Mohammad Amir, who has struggled to take wickets in ODI cricket since the Champions Trophy final in June 2017.

Since then until now, Amir has picked up five wickets in 14 ODIs at an abysmal average of 92.60.

However, Akram has defended the 26-year-old and even believes that Amir could captain Pakistan in the future.

Wasim Akram’s Squad: Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam, Haris Sohail, Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali, Umar Akmal, Sarfraz Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Amir, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Hasnain and Hasan Ali

Waqar Younis’ Squad

Like Akram, Younis included Amir in his squad, but also opted to go with a few more experienced players.

The 47-year-old picked veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez in his World Cup side, along with Wahab, who was the third-highest wicket-taker in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as he took 17 wickets in 13 games for the Peshawar Zalmi at an average of 19.88.

Waqar Younis’ Squad: Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam, Sarfraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Haris Sohail, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz

Ramiz Raja’s Squad

The former skipper chose wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan in his squad, along with left-arm pace bowler Junaid Khan.

He also selected opening batsman Abid Ali.

Rizwan enjoyed a lot of success during the recent ODI series against Australia as he scored 231 runs in five matches, which included two centuries, at an average of 57.75.

As for Junaid, he took four wickets in three ODIs against Australia at an average of 44.50.

Abid, meanwhile, scored a century on debut in the fourth ODI against Australia in Dubai, but was dismissed for a golden duck in the fifth ODI. Despite this, he still finished with 112 runs at an average of 56.

Ramiz Raja’s Squad: Abid Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, Sarfraz Ahmed, Asif Ali, Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Sohail, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Amir and Junaid Khan.

Bazid Khan’s Squad

The ex-Pakistan batsman similarly chose Junaid in his squad, but also selected Aamer Yamin and Mohammad Abbas.

Yamin represented the Karachi Kings in the PSL and claimed six wickets in eight games at an average of 38.33.

In the ongoing Pakistan Cup, where he is playing for Sindh, Yamin scored 46 against Balochistan on April 4.

He followed that up with figures of 1-44 off five overs against Federal Areas on April 6.

As for Abbas, he has been outstanding for Pakistan in Tests, where he has snapped up 66 wickets in 14 Tests at an average of 18.86.

He made his ODI debut during the series against Australia and claimed one wicket in three games at an average of 153.

Bazid Khan’s Squad: Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam, Sarfraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Rizwan, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali, Junaid Khan, Aamer Yamin and Mohammad Abbas
