Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja believes that opener Fakhar Zaman and batsman Babar Azam should have played in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates.
Zaman and Azam were among two players rested for the series, along with captain Sarfraz Ahmed, Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan and Hasan Ali.
However, with Pakistan being whitewashed 5-0, Ramiz questioned the decision to rest Zaman and Azam.
“I disagree with the strategy of resting the players, we should not rest batsmen, especially Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman because they both needed to practice and play matches,” Ramiz was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder.
“It would have been much better if we [had] brought two [to] three players from our Playing XI in the series that could have played few games and then rested.”
