Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has urged the national selectors to include batsman Abid Ali in the World Cup squad.

Ramiz’s comments come after Abid scored a superb 112 in his ODI debut in the fourth ODI against Australia on Friday.

However, Abid’s magnificent knock and Mohammad Rizwan’s innings of 104 went in vain as Australia escaped with a six-run win in Dubai.

“I am very happy with Abid Ali’s innings, as Abid has accumulated piles of runs in domestic cricket, but remained unable to impress the selection committee and Mickey Arthur,” Ramiz was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder.

“However, this time around he talked with his bat and played a fantastic and confident innings. In my book, he is a pretty [favourable] candidate for a World Cup spot.”

With Pakistan trailing 4-0 in the series, they will be looking to claim a consolation win in the fifth ODI, which will be held in Dubai on Sunday.

  1. This Guy plays better than imam-ul-haq, But very unlikely to see him play in the worldcup as no one is backing him up. Nepotism has always been a part of PCB.
