Legendary Pakistan pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar firmly believes that Mickey Arthur doesn’t have what it takes to be head coach of the national team.
Akhtar’s comments come after Pakistan’s dismal tour of South Africa and their series loss in the ongoing ODI series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates.
Pakistan were whitewashed 3-0 in their Test series against South Africa, while they lost the ODI and Twenty20 series 3-2 and 2-1 respectively.
With Pakistan also 3-0 down in the five-match ODI series against Australia, Akhtar has taken aim at Arthur and questioned whether he is up to the job.
“To be honest with you, Mickey Arthur does not have the capacity or the capability to be a coach,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “That’s what I have been saying before that Sarfraz Ahmed has to take charge [from Mickey Arthur]; to take Umer Khan, to take Mohammad Musa, or offer to resign; this is the way how captaincy is done and captains like Imran Khan used to fight for their cause.
“Did Imran Khan ever allow the selection committee to touch his team? The results of that are there for all to see.”
